Summary
A case simulating pulmonary tuberculosis, due to a chromogenic acid-fast “saprophyte,”
is reported. The occurrence, also, of m in the sputum is in the sputum is believed to have resulted from a superinfection.
The relationship of the acid-fast bacillus isolated to similar strains of acid-fast
“saprophytes,” and the rôle of these organisms in pulmonary infections, are discussed.
